Media
The only media uploaded to this site is provided by club members.
Contact forms
Our contact form is derived from a plugin that does not:
- Track users by stealth;
- Write any user personal data to the database;
- Send any data to external servers; or
- Use cookies
We may use reCAPTCHA to provide anti-spamming services and, where this is enabled, Google may gather personal data, including your IP address, in order to determine approximate geographic location. If you currently use Google Chrome then you will already be providing this information.
We use Other anti-spamming plugins which, by default, capture data about you to provide us with anonymous statistical data about spamming attempts on our site.
We hasten to add that, whilst this data may be collected by default and because of the technologies we use, we do not use any of this data for our own purposes.
Cookies
Invictus MC does not use cookies. However, because the site is built on WordPress, several cookies are installed to enable WordPress to carry out basic functions…
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
Some club members can log into the site for administrative and testing purposes. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Media on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
We do not typically add media from other sites, other than images which we have previously uploaded to Instagram.
Analytics
We use WordPress to provide the content management system that powers our website. As part of the service they provide to us, they will collect some analytical data to enable them to provide us with statistical information about visitors to this website. The information they collect my contain data such as your IP address and system specification.
We do not see the detail of this data, which is presented to us in the form of anonymised information in the form of usage charts with broad geographical data. At this time, we do not utilise this information and will amend this privacy policy should that change.

What rights you have over your data
We only collect data you provide through our contact form for administrative purposes. We do not store your data within a database, but our system will use data provided through our contact form to email the club secretary with any data provided as part of your inquiry.
This does not affect your right to request we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Contact form data is formatted into an email and forwarded to the club secretary for the purpose of administering your inquiry.
Your contact information
When you use our contact form, we will only ask for basic information to enable us to deal with your enquiry. The data you provide is as follows:
- Name – This does not have to be your formal name. We will refer to you by whatever you choose to supply.
- Email – We require your email address in order to respond to your inquiry.
- Service – This club is exclusively limited to former and serving members of the Royal Marines and Parachute Regiment. We therefore require this information when submitting a request to join. This information is not necessary for general inquiries and the field can be left blank.

How we protect your data
We protect your data by;
- limiting what we collect to the absolute minimum we require to service your requests,
- not tracking you via cookies, and
- respecting your privacy
What data breach procedures we have in place
We ensure that our website remains up to date with the latest version of WordPress and the plugins we use to provide certain functionality such as spam protection.
We do not store your data on our website.
When you contact us, we use your data to create an email that is automatically forwarded to the club secretary. No data is persisted as a result of this transaction and the club secretary will receive the email as if you had sent it to him personally. We use encryption to ensure that the information passed between the website and the club secretary remains secure.
The club secretary will hold emails for as long as they are required to fulfill your inquiry. Your data will not be transferred to a contacts list, stored in a database, or sent to any other parties.
We believe that the combination of these measures and the fact that we do not require you to provide detailed personal data goes a long way to preventing data breaches. However, we cannot guarantee that a data breach will not happen and we will immediately advise anyone we deem to have been affected by such a breach.
What third parties we receive data from
WordPress provides anonymised data to enable us to review statistics, such as numbers of visitors to the site and the broad geographic areas for visitors. We will never be able to drill into this data to determine where you live.
At this time, we have no interest in such statistical data. That may change in the future, but we will amend this privacy policy to reflect that
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data
None whatsoever. It’s not our thing!
